Signed Off in Chicago

Mugo Odigwe signs off from WBBM, CBS Chicago but is staying in the CBS food chain. She’s moving to the national streaming desk at CBS.

This is what she posted to her Instagram.

It’s my last day at CBS News Chicago.

I wanted to leave quietly. No on-air goodbye (introvert me would melt on the inside and I knew I’d be emotional).

But my assistant news director insisted on doing something. This was our compromise…anchors will do the talking and I don’t have to be on set.

Thank you to our anchors for being so sweet and loving with it. Thank you to all my colleagues at CBS News Chicago. Everyone has been very supportive. I’m going to miss them all. Thank you to our viewers who tune in dark and early every morning. I’m going to miss this city. Minus the bitter cold, of course.

I grew exponentially as a reporter and anchor in my almost six years here. And on a personal level, I got engaged, married and we bought our first home during my time here. Point is, this is where adulthood really happened for me, so Chicago will always have a special place in my heart.
