This Could be Bad News for Nexstar's CW

The breaking news headline was a bit surprising.

The PGA Tour and the Saudi-backed LIV Golf league will merge, executives announced, ending a bitter split in the men’s professional game.

There are not many details as to how the PGA Tour and the LIV Golf will merge, but it doesn’t seem like good news for Nexstar and their CW network.

LIV Golf was paying Nexstar to air its tournaments on the little-watched CW. Despite almost no ratings, Nexstar was still cashing a check from LIV Golf.

Now, if the two merge as has been announced, I don’t think there is any way in hell that the PGA Tour is going to air tournaments on the CW.

And I can guarantee you that the PGA Tour is not going to pay any network to do so.

The PGA Tour is paid millions (billions) from networks like CBS, NBC, and ESPN to carry the tournaments.

They aren’t paying anyone.

Uncle Perry might be out a boatload of money.
