Fox Weather Staffer Sounds Off

FTVLive has heard from a number of Fox Weather staffers that are feeling frustrated with how things are going.

One Fox Weather staffer sent us this email, and we are sharing it with you.

Things have really taken a turn for the worst working here. No one, including those behind the scenes, on camera, working on digital, are happy. Most of the management and exec staff are underqualified and their attitudes towards everyone: bookers, producers, reporters and on-air meteorologists, make working here a living hell. Don’t believe the “happy” or “I’m so grateful” posts on social media.

We were already stretched thin when Fox launched this streaming and app service on a tight budget. Unfortunately, we’re especially feeling it now as we’re down so many people.

The most hardworking individuals here at one point … have either quit or walked out on the job. I, too, can attest that we’ve been blind-sided here in NYC by the layoffs, even after our meeting when management told us not to worry.

Managers, execs, and VPs all lie and say one thing but do another. It just goes to show you that management is 1000% of the problem here.

On-air mets are upset about scheduling. Shows are not consistent. One of the bosses,  Wil Surrat, doesn’t know what he’s doing and chooses to be a twit to everyone.  The poor reporters are miserable, especially the MMJs. Those of us behind the scenes have realized for some time that management only lets the correspondents … mostly Robert Ray cover stories and travel. Max Gordon is the other go-to. The rest of them are the B-Team and not allowed to travel for “budget reasons.”

This means while Robert and meteorologists are going out doing hurricane specials, they can’t afford freelancers or hotels for MMJs to actually do stories that matter in their communities and across their regions. It’s baffling that Fox Weather even hired MMJs at the network level.

The only thing that should be on the forecast here at Fox Weather is shit. Because it’s a raining shit show!
