Missing Out on Luck
/Back in January, FTVLive told you that WFMY (Greensboro) Anchor Julie Luck would be off the air for Feb sweeps.
At the time, Luck informed viewers that she is taking time off after doctors diagnosed her with colon cancer after a routine colonoscopy.
It was expected that she would miss a few weeks from the set, but sadly, it appears that this is going to stretch into months.
After undergoing surgery the pathology report after found that the cancer had spread to several lymph nodes.
"Stage 3A," Luck said of words that would come next.
The diagnosis means three months of chemotherapy but usually good outcomes, according to the National Institutes of Health.
Luck wants to encourage other Journalists to take the time out and get checked out.
“I can’t stress the importance of screening enough. I had no symptoms, no family history, nothing. Now, I’m battling stage 3A cancer. We work in a hectic, time-consuming business but we need to find the time to get checked. It could be a lifesaver,” Luck told FTVLive.
Her attitude is that of a fighter and we wish Julie the very best and speedy recovery.
