Forget Your Viewers and Do This...

In the lead up hype to the Super Bowl, Nexstar’s News Nation landed an interview with the parents Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow.

Yeah, I know, not exactly the biggest “get” in the world, but News Nation was excited.

So, they sent an internal email out to their Ohio stations asking them to promote the News Nation interview.

But, here’s the deal, News Nation was basically asking the local stations to promote a show that is going up against their newscasts. It appears that wanted to the station to tell viewers to switch off the local newscasts and tune to News Nation.

“Maybe Nexstar thinks cannibalizing their local markets’ viewership for News Nation’s benefit is a good thing…but we don’t…especially when we’re scraping for every last cent we can get,” said one Nexstar staffer to FTVLive.
