Judge Delays Ruling on KUSI Case
/The case of former news anchor Sandra Maas vs. KUSI (San Diego) has some interesting decisions for the judge in the case to make.
FTVLive told you that KUSI is calling former news anchor Anna Laurel a witness in the case a “secret agent” who sought damaging and confidential information.
They also accused her of leaking information to FTVLive.
Laurel claims that the station hacked her private email.
The McKinnon station also wants Maas’s attorney tossed from the case due to what they say is “misconduct.”
The judge was supposed to rule on both decisions last week but has now delayed those rulings.
Ken Stone of the Times of San Diego reports that Judge Ronald Frazier told both sides that he’ll hear arguments March 11 in downtown Superior Court after several issues are resolved.
“You folks have given us basically a law-school evidence exam,” Frazier told the lawyers. “There are so many evidentiary issues here, which I personally find fascinating. But it’s a lot to unravel in a very short period of time.”
Maas sued KUSI owner McKinnon Broadcasting Co. for $10 million, alleging her contract wasn’t renewed because she sought the same salary as her recently retired co-anchor, Allen Denton.
The trial is expected to start in mid-April.
