Tegna Boss Comes Out of the Basement
/WKYC (Cleveland) Director of Content Jonathan Adkins went on his social media and linked to a story from Knight-Cronkite News Lab that featured him and the fact that he has spent the pandemic doing his job from the basement of his home.
“If a year ago, you had told me I could sit in my basement in my house and see 16 live feeds from the field, have direct interaction with the talent on the set, and be able to watch feeds and our broadcasts with less than a half second delay, I would have thought you were crazy,” he told the Reporter. Adkins says can even re-set the teleprompter from home.
Insiders at the Cleveland Tegna station say that almost none of the station’s managers have stepped foot in the station since the start of the COVID pandemic.
Adkins seems proud of the story about how he is able to stay safe at home and still do his job from his basement.
But, right under his Facebook post to that story, Adkins then shares his family vacation pictures from the beaches in Florida.
“So it’s ok to come out of the basement to travel but not for work?!” one WKYC staffer said to FTVLive, adding, “My “Fu@%ing head is exploding over this.”
It certainly makes for bad optics, when the boss is not coming into the office for safety sake, yet can travel to COVID stricken Florida with the fam.
Then again, this is Tegna…
