Coming in at No. 3 on our list of the Worst TV ownership group through the COVID-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter protests is Meredith Broadcasting.

While asking their staff to be on the front lines of covering both the pandemic and the protests, Meredith rewarded their staff by cutting their pay.

Meredith also took the chance to not renew some of their employees’ contracts. They said they were implementing a hiring freeze, but still hired people in pet positions and promoted managers.

When asked about getting “hazard pay” for the job their Journalists were doing on the front lines, insiders say that Meredith’s President of the Local Media Group, Patrick McCreery replied, “I went into journalism for things like this. You do not get hazard pay for doing your job. No, you are not getting hazard pay.”

Meredith is a small group that always wanted to be looked at as one of the players. But, when times got tough, they showed they are really not worth the time.

Check back the next hour for the No. 3 Best group on our list.
