Longtime WUSA Anchor Bruce Johnson says that he is going to hang it up and retire.

Not at the end of the week, or in two weeks, but at the end of the year.

He joined the Tegna station back in 1976 and along with covering the news, Johnson also wrote two books. Heart to Heart was Johnson’s effort to share his personal journey of recovery from a heart attack in 1992. All or Nothing was his expose on DC basketball star, Victor Page.

WUSA writes that to celebrate his career more fully, we will pay tribute to Bruce during the month of November and pay homage to the many ways he has positively lived out his commitment to journalism in his adopted city.

He signing off at the end of December, but they will spend the month of November “pay homage” to him.

You see, December is not a ratings month.

You Anchor spends 44 years at the station and you try to milk just a few more ratings points out of him before he goes.
