EXCLUSIVE: Sinclair Close to App Launch in Ohio

Back in March, FTVLive FIRST told you that Sinclair’s WKEF/WRGTwas working on an app that was dubbed “Project Seagull” internally.

The app was supposed to be launched in May, but that didn’t happen.

The station is now close to launching and talent have been recording special content (looklives, weather updates) for months to test the workflow.

It will be called “Dayton 24/7 Now” and FTVLive obtained a shot of the logo (above).

Sinclair’s goal is to have videos being uploaded constantly to the app. Crews are being told, if you’re driving to a story? Post a video update. Doing an interview? Post a video of it. Editing? Post a video teasing your story.

Sources tell FTVLive that the app is in final beta and should be rolled out soon. We got a screen shot of the app and it includes a story legendary women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt dying and how local coaches are reacting.

Since her death happened back in 2016, we’re hoping the new app will have more recent stories posted to it.
