Let The Viewer Decide if it's Racist

CBS Evening News called Donald Trump’s tweet in which he tells four Congresswomen to go back to where they came from, racist.

It was racist, but as a news organization, you should present the facts unbiasedly and then let the viewer decide.

That is what Journalists are supposed to do.

But, now thanks to cable news, biased coverage is filtering into networks and local TV stations.

As a true Journalist, it is not your job to say that Trump’s tweet is racist.

Leave that decision to your viewer.

Yes, Trump’s tweet was racist, just like many other things that he said. But, again, your job is to report the news objectively and let the viewer decide.

Let others call the tweet racist and you stay down the middle.

This has set off debates in TV news, here are two Denver Anchors debating it on Twitter.

Both Anchors work in the same building.

FTVLive sides with Ernie Bjorkman on this one.

Trump’s tweet was racist, but not everyone sees it that way and it is not a Journalist’s job to say it was. Present the facts and let the viewer decide.

That my friends is what Journalism is.
