Scripps announced that their deal to buy 15stations in 10 markets from Cordillera Communications is now done.

With the deal done, it means that Scripps footprint grows to 52 stations in 36 markets with a reach 21% of U.S. TV households. Scripps is also expected to pick up 8 more stations as part of the Nexstar/Tribune deal, including WPIX in New York.

“We welcome these stations’ employees to the Scripps team and look forward to working together to continue our strong commitment to journalism and serving local communities,” said Brian Lawlor, president of Local Media for Scripps.

If you’re a TV group and not looking to buy more stations, you’re going backward in this industry.
