Cops say that are investigating an assault involving staff from a Palm Springs station.

The incident happened while a KESQ Reporter and Videographer were doing a story on a Thousand Palms medical marijuana dispensary.

According to the station, the story focused on an illegal dispensary that shut down in January before reopening under a new name on Datil Way.

The Reporter was interviewing nearby residents when she and a videographer were approached by a couple who pulled up in front of them, according to KESQ. The man knocked the camera out of cameraman's hands before grabbing the reporter's phone.

He reportedly cursed at them before hitting the camera again and taking the phone a second time.

One man, identified by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department as Julian Navarro (pictured) was arrested Thursday in connection with the case on suspicion of grand theft, battery, vandalism, and preventing wireless communication.
