WLKY (Louisville) partnered with the Louisville Urban League this week to raise both awareness and funds for the new sports/learning complex coming to west Louisville.

The day-long effort on Wednesday started with the 6:00am newscast and the donation lines remained open through 8:00pm.

During those hours, supporters of the community project, both local businesses, and viewers, generously donated $161,469.

“As a longtime community partner, we see the potential impact of this project and the importance of its success. This facility will not only provide a much-needed revitalization to west Louisville, but its success will impact our entire city. We wanted to do something to help, and it turns out giving our viewers a way to connect directly with the Louisville Urban League was something they appreciated,” said WLKY General Manager Glenn Haygood.
