Sources tell FTVLive that WCTV (Tallahassee) morning Anchor Venise Toussaint was shown the door yesterday after she highjacked the newscast to promote her new business.

One station insider tells FTVLive that, “Toussaint, who is opening a “meditation float spa” used an entire segment Tuesday to play a CBS package on float spas and then started to adlib about float spas and took about 2 minutes of news air time to promote her new float spa business, giving out the phone number and address, and asking viewers to please stop by for the grand opening.”

She also tweeted about her new business venture on her station branded Twitter. She also posted about her business on her Facebook page as well.

Word is that after she pimped her side hustle on the air, she was called into the corner office and sources say that at first she was told she would be suspended.

Newsroom insiders tell FTVLive that Toussaint did not take that news well and started “going off” it was then that management decided to terminate her.

Her bio has been scrubbed from the Gray station’s website.

We have to say that FTVLive agrees with management in this case. Journalists that start using the station’s air time and station branded social media to promote their business is a huge hit to the station’s credibility as a news organization.

Let’s hope that Toussaint’s new business does well, cuz I don’t think you’ll be seeing her back in TV news anytime soon.

Just saying…
