Bringing Back The Bacon

David Bacon’s last full-time job in TV news was in 2005.

But now, the former Sports Anchor has returned as a News Anchor at KRBC in Abilene. Bacon was working in the station’s sales department.

Bacon is is completing his second week in KRBC anchor chair. He takes over for Randy Turner, who left the business.

"KRBC was Abilene’s first TV station 65 years ago and David is the perfect addition to keep our rich tradition going," said News Director Travis Ruiz.

He shares anchor duties with Kathleen Barkley. It was her enthusiasm, he said, when he "tried out" for the job that won him over.

"The biggest adjustment is the newsroom computer system," Bacon said. Everyone else had been using it for years, Bacon's experience was limited.

"But it went well and the audience reaction has been very gratifying," he said. "I've reverted back to what I did."
