Tribune Lawyer: I'm Out of Here

It has been a long couple of years for Tribune’s lawyer Eddie Lazarus.

He’s been working for a company that has no interest in running TV stations and has every interest is selling out to the highest bidder. He helped wade the company through the legal hurdles of the Sinclair deal that fell apart and started the same process with Nexstar.

Looks like Lazarus was ready to move on.

Here is the internal memo sent to the staff:

Subject: Eddie Lazarus Moving On

I want to let you all know that after five-plus years as Tribune Media’s General Counsel and EVP/Strategy, Eddie Lazarus will be moving on to become Chief Legal Officer at Sonos, Inc. Fortunately, Eddie has agreed to continue to advise Tribune as it navigates the regulatory process with Nexstar.

Eddie has made tremendous contributions to Tribune since he joined us in 2013. In addition to overseeing the legal department, he played a critically important role in the acquisition of Local TV, the successful spin-off of our newspaper business, our reemergence as a public company, and in reaching a transaction with Nexstar. Eddie’s also been an important advocate for our mission and values, and helped revitalize our employee culture.

On a personal level, I’ve enjoyed working with Eddie immensely and appreciate the counsel he has offered me and our Board of Directors over the years.

Please join me in wishing Eddie well at Sonos and in thanking him for everything he has done for Tribune.

Peter
