Two Out the Door in San Antonio

Two TV newsies are signing off in San Antonio.

One is going way down in market size and the other is going way up.

The San Antonio Express News reports that Katie Vossler (top right), KSAT's perky, blond (this is the paper's words, not mine) weekend and fill-in meteorologist since early 2014, will be going home to Tyler and the Texas city's ABC affiliate.

She wrote on Facebook that although it's bittersweet for her to leave San Antonio and the folks at KSAT, she's ecstatic to return to East Texas where she was born, grew up and got her feet wet in local TV.

Though Tyler is several steps down in terms of market size from San Antonio (No. 108 to No. 31, respectively), the pluses of being near family and working with her beloved mentor at the city's No. 1 station more than make up for that, she said in a live Facebook video.

Meanwhile, driven and easy-on-the-eyes (again the paper's words, not mine) KENS reporter MaryAnn Martinez (bottom right) waves goodbye to her station of more than two years this week to jump to the country's No. 2 market: Los Angeles.

Starting Tuesday, she'll report the news on Fox affiliate KTTV.

"My big thing is policing the police and holding the powerful accountable," said KENS' lead nightside reporter.

She's thrilled to be going to a much larger television market. "It's definitely going to be an adventure," she said. Still, it's tough leaving San Antonio, she added.
