Scott Pelley Rushed to CBS to Deliver the Simon News

CBS Anchor Scott Pelley was seeing a Broadway show with his wife, Jane, Wednesday night when the “CBS Evening News” anchor got word his “60 Minutes” colleague Bob Simon was tragically killed in a car accident.

Pelley had arrived at the Nederlander Theatre on West 41st Street to see “Honeymoon in Vegas,”  but made an abrupt exit during the performance.

“Scott rushed to the studio as soon as he got word that Bob Simon had passed away,” a source said. “Moments later, he broke into network programming at 10 p.m. to deliver the news of his colleague’s death.”

Pelley looked red-eyed as he related the sad news on-air.

Pelley, who rarely tweets, took to Twitter to remember his friend:
