FTVLive FIRST told you that Meredith owned WGCL in Atlanta had hired former MSNBC Anchor Thomas Roberts to be the station's main Anchor.

After FTVLive broke the news , many scrambled to try and confirm our story.

Well, this morning at the WGCL newsroom morning meeting, there sat Thomas Roberts. He was being introduced to the staff that already knew he was coming, thanks to FTVLive.

About the same time Roberts was shaking hands  and meeting his new co-workers, the station was sending out this press release.

Of course, all of this is old news to anyone that reads FTVLive.

Just saying....

Here's the release:

CBS46 TV (WGCL) announced today that Thomas Roberts will be joining the station as a Co-Anchor on the CBS46 Early Evening and Late Newscasts.  He will also Co-Anchor CBS46 News at 9pm on Peachtree TV.

Roberts was last at MSNBC where he was an Anchor/Correspondent.  While there he was also a fill-in Anchor on “TODAY” and “Nightly News with Lester Holt” and host of “Way Too Early with Thomas Roberts” and “MSNBC Live with Thomas Roberts.”

Roberts has also spent time with CBS News, CNN, The Insider/Entertainment Tonight and with local TV stations WAVY-TV, WFTX-TV, KLKN-TV and KNSD-TV.

“Thomas is a top shelf journalist and anchor with a long track record of success at every level: network, national cable and most importantly local news. His natural talent, leadership and extensive experience in Atlanta make him the perfect fit for where we’re going as an organization,” said CBS46 News Director Steve Doerr.

He’s been the recipient of many awards, including: Edward R. Murrow (Best Documentary), Human Rights Campaign’s Visibility Award, Vito Russo GLAAD Award and a NATAS Emmy for Outstanding Live Coverage of a Current News Story (Supreme Court Decision on Same Sex Marriage).

Roberts is a graduate of McDaniel College in Westminster, MD.
