Tegna's KHOU has parted ways with popular traffic Anchor Darby Douglas.

Douglas says that the station opted out of his contract. This was his second time working at KHOU.

“I am so honored to have gotten to be part of the KHOU team for a second time in my life," Douglas told mikemcguff.com. "But as you know, things change and unfortunately I will not be part of those changes. Who knows what the future brings, but I hope our paths cross once again. I’m already missing it!”

"Darby was the most trusted and reliable traffic reporter in Houston during both of his tenures at KHOU," said one station insider to FTVLive. "I haven't heard any real reason for him leaving but the station has been shedding talent pretty steadily over the past 2 years," the insider added.

If we were a betting man, we would say that Douglas' replacement will be young, female and paid a lot less.

Stay tuned...
