O-Town Station Gets Top Honor

WFTV in Orlando might be the No. 1 station, but the Florida Associated Press Broadcasters says that WKMG is the best station.

WKMG won 'Station of the Year" from the AP. The CBS affiliate picked up nine first-place awards and two second-place prizes over the weekend.

"I am very pleased to see our team being recognized for their hard work and dedication to investigative journalism, compelling storytelling and commitment to highlighting people of Central Florida who are getting results for our community," WKMG news director Allison McGinley said in what can only be  statement written by the Creative Services Department.

Ratings leader WFTV received two first-place awards and two second-place prizes.

WESH collected one first-place honor and two second-place awards.

Fox O&O WOFL was the only station in the market that was shutout from winning a first place award.
