Another One Out the Door in Huntsville

It looks like no more morning Wood for a Huntsville station.

After 6 1/2 years, WAAY Anchor Meredith Wood announced Friday was her last day as morning and noon anchor at the Heartland owned ABC affiliate in Huntsville.

She made the announcement on her work Facebook page. Her departure comes two months after anchor Erin Dacy left the station after 24 years.

Wood is the 11th on air talent to leave WAAY since Heartland Media bought the station in May.

Four anchors, two meteorologists, a sports anchor, and four reporters departed in the past eight months, and there’s been a total reshuffling of existing talent with anchor Bill Young moved from evenings to mornings, Meteorologist Chris Smith moved from chief to weekends, morning Meteorologist Liz Cosgrove moved to traffic reporter, and noon anchor Alyssa Martin moved to weekends.
