No News is Not So Good News

WKMG in Orlando ditched their 4PM newscast yesterday.

The station was hot with a power outage and they scrapped the 4PM newscast and ran a rerun of Rachael Ray instead of the newscast.

“Duke Energy said a semi truck at Carder Road near All American Boulevard was too tall and snagged a power line,” said WKMG news director Allison McGinley. “It happened at 2:40, and the newsroom went dark.”

Computers shut down, and the station’s generator kicked in, but the hit was so bad that it took all the automated systems time to come back, McGinley said.

WKMG was back with the news at 5 p.m.
