We Told You So!

We hate to say we told you so (really we don't hate it at all) but, WE TOLD YOU SO!

Back in August FTVLive FIRST (as in before anyone in the world) told you that Tegna owned KENS was looking to push longtime Anchor Sarah Lucero.

On August 8th, FTVLive wrote, and I quote, "Sources tell FTVLive that Tegna has been quietly looking for a new Anchor at KENS in San Antonio. No word yet on what the new Anchor's duties will be, but sources are telling FTVLive that person will likely replace longtime Anchor Sarah Lucero."

KENS has now announced that Lucero is leaving the station at the end of the November book after nearly 20 years.

“It’s a bittersweet time because I really love being here — love KENS,” Lucero, 45, said in a phone interview after the announcement. “But you only have so much time to do everything you love in your life. I needed to make a decision.”

She wants to devote more of it to her family.

Of course, she does.

KENS General Manager Tom Cury couldn’t be reached for comment, but in statement released by the station, he said: "Sarah Lucero-Calhoon has been a vibrant part of the KENS family for 19+ years, and we are thankful for all she has contributed to our station and the community. … We will miss her."

We will also save a boatload of money on her replacement, curry could have added, but didn't.

Tegna has spent the past year and a half, working on getting high-priced, longtime talent off the payroll. It appears that Lucero is about to join that list.
