Young Voters Have No Trust in the Media

When it comes to the News Media and young voters, the kids have no faith in Journalists.

The media limps in dead last among institutions younger voters trust to "do the right thing," according to a new and massive Harvard University survey.

In the school's Institute of Politics poll of over 3,000 18-29-year-olds, a tiny 12 percent said they believe the do the right thing. A whopping 88 percent said "sometimes" or "never." Just 2 percent said they trusted the media to do the right thing "all of the time," and 39 percent said "never."

The poll is the latest nail in the media's coffin, a downward spiral that has resulted in fewer younger Americans reading traditional media and especially traditional platforms such as newspapers and magazines.

How bad is it?

The media ranked behind Congress in the poll.

Topping the trust list were "scientists," the military and local police.

Must Be Ratings in Venezuela as well

Screen Shot 2015-04-30 at 6.00.59 AM.png

We all know stations will do just about anything during ratings to pull in viewers. But, one Venezuelan sports Anchor is taking it up a notch.

Anchor Yuvi Pallares was talking about soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and his relationship with a Playboy model when the Anchor off her clothes.

By the end of the story, Pallares was completely naked.

God, I hope this doesn't give Don Lemon any ideas.

Letterman: CBS Should Have Fired Me Over Sex Scandal

As David Letterman wraps up his Late Show on CBS, he admits, CBS could have got rid of him years ago.

Page Six writes that Letterman says that CBS had “good reason” to cut him loose after his cataclysmic 2009 intern-and-extortion flameout, or, as he jokingly calls it, “My sex scandal.”

But they didn’t, and, “I owe them that,” the legendary funnyman told The New York Times.

“Looking at it now, yes, I think they would have had good reason to fire me,” Letterman, 68, told the paper as his May 20 retirement looms.

“But at the time, I was largely ignorant as to what, really, I had done,” he said of the scandal, in which a $2 million extortion attempt led him to admit on air to having cheated on his wife with multiple underlings, including assistant Stephanie Birkitt.

“It just seemed like, OK, well, here’s somebody who had an intimate relationship with somebody he shouldn’t have had an intimate relationship with,” he added.

“And I always said, ‘Well, who hasn’t?’ to myself.

“But then, when I was able to see from the epicenter, the ripples, I thought, yeah, they could have fired me. But they didn’t. So I owe them that.”

No?! You Did Not Really Tweet That?

Scripps owned WKBW in Buffalo has “suspended its relationship” with Reporter “Airborne" Eddy Dobosiewicz after he said on his Twitter account that people protesting in Baltimore were“acting like animals” and included a photo of baboons climbing on a car.

Station General Manager Michael Nurse said in a statement that the comments Dobosiewicz posted on the social media network were “insensitive, inappropriate and harmful.”

Dobosiewicz, a local comedian is not employed by WKBW but does a weekly nostalgia feature called “Queen City Chronicles.”

His initial tweet on Tuesday said, in part, “Enuf already!!! U want to be treated like people stop acting like animals.” and included the hashtag #Baltimorons.

After the tweet was posted, several people took Dobosiewicz to task for it, saying that both the words and the imagery he chose were racist.

Responding the critics, Dobosiewicz tweeted: “how is it racist? the first pic was too playful n the animals that r burning the streets r not”

Dobosiewicz has not posted anything on Twitter since late Tuesday.

And maybe he should not post anything ever again.

Just saying....

Houston Station's New Newscast Marred with Technical Problems

KRIV in Houston has been trying to add walking and talking anchors during the newscast.

It is not working out very well.

“What makes this program unusual is that we really get to know both the on-air and off-air staff,”  News Director Bob Morford said of their new newscast.

What viewers really see is how NOT prepared this station is to a newscast like this.

When your anchor is holding up and iPad with the Reporter on it, you know it has gone bad.

Here is a clip of Monday's show and it is a laughing stock of problems. This is the Houston market, you might think it is Yuma when you watch the video:

Here are clips from Fox 26 KRIV Houston's experimental noon newscast.

FTVLive Tips to TV Reporters - No. 921 and No. 922

If you're a TV Reporter covering the riots (or any story for that matter), do not take selfies with other Reporters like a 5th grade school girl.

We turn to the Twitter account of Manila Chan who works for RT America:

Also, another tip, Don't save that one Anchor is your favorite and then a few minutes later post another selfie with your other favorite Anchor:

Also, never get in front of Geraldo's camera.

That's our tips for Today.

Charges Dropped Against Kansas Anchor

Back in March, FTVLive told you that KSNW Anchor Brian Miller, who had been at the station for just over a year was busted by cops for Destruction of Property and Domestic Violence.

The station now says that those charges brought against Miller have been dismissed.

The station did not say if Miller, who has not appeared on the air since his arrest is still employed by the station, or what his future is.

"Stop Blocking My Camera!"

The one thing we have learned over the years, never get between a camera and Geraldo Rivera. Hell, sometimes even Geraldo won't let his own clothes come between him and the camera.

Fox News decided to counter CNN's Don Lemon with their own circus act and they sent in Geraldo to cover the Baltimore unrest.

One protestor got between Geraldo and his camera and he might has well be stealing Rivera's oxygen as well.

Needless to say Geraldo got pissed:

Geraldo Rivera Argues With Baltimore Protester. 'Stop Blocking My Camera!' Geraldo Nearly Comes to Blows with Baltimore Protester Geraldo Rivera had a particularly contentious fight at the top of Sean Hannity's show tonight with a Baltimore protester, shouting, "Stop blocking my camera!" and "You're making a fool of yourself!"

It was long after Geraldo started filing his reports that he was trending on Twitter. Most tweets were against both him and Sean Hannity who was called a coward for sitting back in the studio, letting Rivera ask his questions and take the protestors wrath.

As for CNN's Don Lemon? He needs to sit back and watch the master. No one can make the story more about himself than Geraldo.

Just saying....

CNN's Brooke Baldwin Says Sorry for Comments (Update)

CNN's Brooke Baldwin found herself getting hammered for comments she made about Veterans becoming Police Officers.

Baldwin suggested during her show CNN Newsroom yesterday that U.S. military veterans who become police officers were to blame for the recent string of violence involving police officers in that they return home “from war” and are “ready to do battle.”

While speaking with Democratic Congressman Elijah Cummings (Md.), Baldwin recalled a conversation with a Baltimore City councilman about police officers not living “in the communities” they represent when she remarked that: “I love our nation's veterans, but some of them are coming back from war, they don't know the communities, and they're ready to do battle.”

Those comments set off a social media storm against Baldwin and the CNN Anchor soon backed down:

But, her apology many of whom say should be made on air and not Twitter fell mainly on deaf ears. People were still saying Baldwin should be fired and demanding she be taken off the air.

Neither of which CNN will do.

Update: Baldwin went on air this morning, after FTVLive's story was posted and said she was sorry.

BriLie Ready to Take on the Peacock and Make it Ugly

It looks like team Brian Williams is going to stop the jabs and start throwing some hooks.

According to Page Six, Williams is saying he will not have his “NBC Nightly News” job taken away without a battle.

“Brian is saying he’s not going down without a fight and [is] threatening to make it really ugly — worse than Ann Curry,” a source close to NBC told The Post.

Curry and Williams are both represented by a pit bull lawyer — Bob Barnett at Williams & Connolly.

“They want Brian to resign,” said one source. “If they have to fire him, they can’t control him.”

The tense state of the Williams-NBCUniversal relationship has become clear of late.

Larry King has come out saying that he thinks Williams could end up at CNN.

In other news, Larry King is changing his name to Captain Obvious.
