Bottom Dwellers

It's not like FTVLive didn't predict that this would happen.

Two new comers to cable news are finding it tough to get an audience.

CNN's show  'Stroumboulopoulos' and MNBC's 'All In' are sucking wind in the ratings.

A look back at Friday night and you see that Stroumboulopoulos came in last place during its 11pm time slot in both the 25-54 demo and total viewers. The show had 85K demo viewers and 199K total viewers. In the demo, George Stroumboulopoulos’ interview show was the second lowest rated show in cable news overall.

So if Stroumboulopoulos was second lowest, who was at the very bottom?

That honor goes to Chris Hayes and his MSNBC show 'All In."

Not only were the viewers not "all in" most of them were out. Hayes show only pulled in 82K total viewers.

Like we said, it's not like we didn't tell you this was going to happen.

CBS O&O's Watch News Numbers Tumble

CBS_Television_Stations.jpg

While the CBS/Time Warner retrans pissing match keeps going, the O&O's are watching their news numbers take a dive.

KCBS in Los Angeles 5PM newscast dropped 33% in their ratings from the week before.  Their 11 p.m. newscast dropped 25 percent.

The same thing happened at CBS O&O KTVT in Dallas.

The station saw their 6 p.m. newscast fall 19 percent, while its 11 p.m. newscast is down 13 percent.

Heading to the Big Apple and WCBS.  The ratings for the station's 11 p.m. newscast are off 17 percent.

CBS Viewers are sampling over newscasts in the market and there is a chance the CBS stations may not get those viewers back.

Let's hope it's worth the money grab that parent network CBS is making.

Stay tuned...

Pulling the Plug in Palm Beach

Screen Shot 2013-08-13 at 5.51.58 AM.png

It's never a good thing when a station gives up on a newscast.

But that is exactly what WPEC is doing in West Palm Beach.

After 7 years, the Sinclair owned station is pulling the plug on their 7PM newscast.

The show never did do very well in the ratings and will be replaced Entertainment Tonight.

Gossip Extra reports that the anchors of the 7PM broadcast, Ben Becker and Stephanie Watson found out about the switch from watching the promos about ET ‘s arrival that WPEC has been airing for days.

The station has made no comment on the future of the two anchors.

Once again, it's the communications business where no one communicates.

He currently anchors the evening newscasts as well as hosts WTVA's community show "Focus" and co-hosts the Regional Rehabilitation Center's Celebration of Hope Telethon.

The obligatory soundbite from the GM after the jump.

How Ironic

Screen Shot 2013-08-12 at 5.11.32 PM.png

It looks like Paula Deen may have won the battle but lost the war.

Remember the racial discrimination suit that brought down  Deen?

Well, the judge just made a ruling and Paula Deen won the case.

The judge ruled in favor of Deen in lawsuit that destroyed the famous chef and lost her most her sponsors.

Lisa Jackson sued Deen for racial discrimination, but because she is white, the judge said the discrimination does not apply to her.

Jackson made a tenuous argument that someone in her family was bi-racial -- something that may not be true at all.  But the judge said even if it were true, she was at best an "accidental victim."

Jackson also claims sexual discrimination, and that part of the case continues to move forward.

A Team of Researchers?! They Must Pay Well in Denver

A Team of Researchers?! They Must Pay Well in Denver

This morning, FTVLive told you how KUSA (Denver) Reporter Amelia Earhart admitted that she was not related to legendary pilot with the same name Amelia Earhart.

The Denver Reporter said she hired "a team of researchers" to find out the truth and see if the two are related (which they are not).

Now, we don't know how much KUSA is paying their Reporters, but it must be a lot. She could afford to hire a team of researchers.

Has this Amelia Earhart never heard of Ancestry.com.

After the jump,  the video of her admitting the truth that she is not related to THE Amelia Earhart after all.

Sloan Sabbith Jumps into Pie Dressed as a French Maid

Sloan Sabbith Jumps into Pie Dressed as a French Maid

Speaking of HBO's The Newsroom.

Many in TV News now know who Olivia Munn is, thanks to The Newsroom. Munn plays "Sloan Sabbith" on the hit HBO show.

But FTVLive has been watching Munn for years when she replaced Sarah Lane on Comcast's G4 'Attack of the Show.'

Munn used to get the geeks that watched G4 all hot and bothered with her stunts and her "I'll do anything attitude."

One stunt that we remember well was Munn wearing a very sexy French Maid outfit and jumping into a giant chocolate pie.

Munn actually hurt hers knees on the jump, but it didn't make her any less sexy.

The video that will make you never look at chocolate pie the same way again is after the jump.

No Relation

Screen Shot 2013-08-01 at 6.50.15 AM.png

Looks like a Denver Reporter has come clean and admitted that she is not related to her namesake.

As FTVLive told you, KUSA Traffic Reporter Amelia Earhart plans to re-create the final flight of legendary pilot Amelia Earhart.

Reporter Earhart claimed to be a distant relative of her name sake in stories about her and her trip.

Many wondered if that was true? And now it seems that it isn't.

Earhart used her Facebook to come clean and admit that she is not related in any way to the Pilot Amelia Earhart:

Years ago, I hired a genealogist to look into the link between myself and the first Amelia Earhart, and for the past 10 years, I had the understanding that we shared a distant common ancestry. As many of you may know, I am in the process of recreating her historic flight around the world. As a part of this process, it became clear it was time to determine the EXACT connection between the two of us. After hiring a team of researchers, I learned today that though we share a name and a love of flight, the first Amelia Earhart and I are not from the same family.

While the news was a jolt, it DOES NOT change my commitment to the the flight or to the mission of The Fly With Amelia Foundation, which is to enable young girls to pursue their dreams of flight. I am so thankful for all the encouragement and support I have received and I am really looking forward to sharing my recreation of Amelia’s flight around the world with all of you. -Amelia

So the story changes from Amelia Earhart's long lost relative to trace her flight around the world, to a Denver Reporter making a trip.

Talk about a buzz kill?

HBO's Newsroom - Fiction or Fact?

120621_CB_NEWSROOM.jpg.CROP.rectangle3-large.jpg

Like most TV people, FTVLive gets a kick out of watching HBO's newsroom to see how close they can get to the real thing?

While the show is entertaining, they miss the mark when it comes to looking like a real newsroom.

Here are 5 things you see on the show and how it compares to a real newsroom. Let separate fact and fiction:

No. 1 - On the HBO show you often see the newsroom staff watching the show on a monitor in the newsroom. Also, many times after the show signs off, you see the staff cheering and clapping in the newsroom.

Fact - Neither of these things ever happen in a real newsroom

No. 2 - On the show, often times the Producer leaves the control room during the show and they seem to have a lot of meetings on set during the commercial breaks.

Fact - This almost never happens in real life.

No. 3 - There are two guys on the show that have the hots for another staffer in the newsroom. Both are doing their best to get the girl to like them.

Fact - This is entirely true.

No. 4 - In HBO's Newsroom, the operation is run by an old white haired guy who seems perennially drunk.

Fact - This is pretty much true as well.

No. 5 - The anchor on HBO's show is a blustery, opinionated jerk who believes he’s smarter than everyone else.

Fact - Nailed it!

In Defense of ABC, It was a Slow Week in News

ABC_donald_trump_this_week_jt_130811_16x9_608.jpg

ABC's 'This Week' is catching some flack for interviewing Donald Trump on Yesterday's show.

'This Week' interviewed Trump about whether he wants to run for president in 2016.

Of course Trump isn't going to run and he just wanted some attention. It seems that Trump is pissed that Kim Karsahian's baby has getting more attention than him.

Trump talked to ABC's Jon Karl in Ames, Iowa on Saturday night.

Karl asked Trump whether he "could be taken seriously as a presidential candidate" which of course he can't.

Needless to say Twitter unloaded of ABC News for wasting time with Trump:
