Celebrity chef and Author Paula Deen has been making headlines for admitting in deposition in a lawsuit that she used the "N word."
Her company has been in full damage control mode since the news came out. Deen's company says that she used the epithet, but in a "quite different time" in American history.
She blames her use of the word on being "from the south."
"Contrary to media reports, Ms. Deen does not condone or find the use of racial epithets acceptable," her lawyer, Bill Franklin said. "She is looking forward to her day in court."
She maybe looking forward to her day in court, but not on the Today Show. Deen was scheduled to appear on Today, but didn't show up.
We're guessing that the news in Spokane might be a bit slow lately.
KHQ sent Reporter Katie Steiner out to show that when it rains, the streets have water in them. We know..... it's the hard investigative reporting you want.
Steiner was also able to show that if you stand next to water in the road and a car drives through the water, you get wet.
If Steiner doesn't win and Emmy for this reporting, we're crying foul.
WESH (Orlando) Anchor Martha Sugalski is laying in a hospital waiting on the birth of her triplets.
The anchor who has been tweeting often about her pregnancy affectionally refers to her unborn babies as "The Bumps."
Now the Bumps have their own Twitter account.
Someone set up a parody account and is tweeting as the babies inside Sugalski.
Here's some of what they have sent out:
While the Today Show continues to overhaul their product to try and get past Good Morning America....The CBS Morning Show is creeping up closer behind them.
CBS This Morning posted double-digit year-to-year percentage gains among viewers (+22%), households (+18%) and women 25-54 (+13%) and added +487,000 viewers compared to the same week last year, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending June 14, 2013.
CBS This Morning also improved its competitive position with NBC, closing the gap by over 700,000 viewers.
Elliott Wiser, who created the local cable newschannel in Tampa Bay News 9 and Central Florida News 13 in Orlando is leaving to become the general manager of St. Petersburg CBS affiliate WTSP.
Wiser will take over for the retiring general manager Ken Tonning.
“I started in broadcast TV; my plan was always to return to my roots,” said Wiser, 57, who noted that WTSP owner Gannett Broadcasting could offer more opportunities if things go well locally. “I always said I would move for the right job. And this is the right job.”
He starts the job July 8.

How about going trying out New Mexico.

Damn! We got taken by a fake Twitter account and a fake email.
Although we still think Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving 'The Vew'. Stay tuned....
You always hate when a news powerhouse pulls the plug on a newscast, but that is exactly what is happening in Chicago.
Our man Robert Feder writes that WLS, Chicago's top-rated television station is dropping its 11 a.m. Monday-through-Friday newscast after more than 20 years this fall to make room on its daytime schedule for the syndicated "Live with Kelly and Michael" and retain the locally produced "Windy City Live."
Linda Yu and Sylvia Perez have been anchoring ABC 7's late-morning newscast since it debuted in September 1992. At the time, they were the first two women to anchor a newscast together in Chicago. Initially a half-hour newscast at 11:30 a.m., it later expanded to a full hour.
The cancellation was prompted by ABC 7's acquisition of "Live with Kelly and Michael," which has been airing at 9 a.m. weekdays on Tribune Broadcasting WGN-Channel 9.

A 6 person jury has been seated in the George Zimmerman case and all 6 are women.
Zimmerman is on trial for second-degree murder trial of Trayvon Martin in the shooting death of 17-year-old.
The Alternates are still being chosen, but the main jury right now is all ladies.
Somewhere Nancy Grace is getting really excited.
It looks like Howard Kurtz, who never let the facts get in the way of a good story, is headed to Fox News.
Mediaite reports that Fox News is expected to announce today that Howard Kurtz will join the network.
Kurtz is currently the anchor of CNN’s Sunday morning media criticism show ironically named Reliable Sources.
Kurtz also worked for the Daily Beast before they parted ways with him after some questionable reporting.
Score one for CNN's Jeff Zucker for getting Kurtz off CNN's air. One way or another.
The news has been confirmed, Howie heads to Fox News. He will do two more shows at CNN before he goes. Here's is tweet kissing Jeff Zucker's ass:
Geraldo Rivera has opened his mouth and stuck in his foot one more time.
Social media went off on Rivera after he tweeted a highly insensitive comment about the late Michael Hastings.
Hastings, a reporter for BuzzFeed and Rolling Stone, died in a fiery car crash this week in Los Angeles. He was best known for his Rolling Stone article on Afghanistan commanding general Stanley McChrystal. The story led to being McChrystal being
fired.
While many were shocked to hear of Hastings sudden death, Rivera was apparently not grieving.
Shortly after Rivera's tweet, social media fired back. Many thought that Rivera was more than insensitive with his remarks.
Rivera shot back this morning:
And apparently, Geraldo has a different kind of Twitter account than the rest of us. His account shows him which people served in the military, and what they watch and read:
Fox News has made no comment as of yet on Rivera's remarks.
You have to give the bad timing award to KXAN in Austin.
Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs went into overtime (again) and just the Chicago Blackhawks was about to score the game winner, KXAN ran a promo for their morning show.
Say whaaaaat?!
Needless to say the viewers began calling the newsroom almost immediately and lit up social media with rants against the station's stupid mistake.
The video of the mistake and the station's apology after the leap.
Read MoreThe weather keeps changing in Miami, or should we say the Weather Department keeps changing at Miami's WPLG.
WPLG made news when they hired Julie Durda from competitor WSVN and shook up the entire weather staff to fit Durda into the line up.
Now, WPLG has hired another former WSVN (and WTVJ) weather anchor.
Word is that Roland Steadham is joining WPLG in the near future.
No details yet on what role he’ll assume at WPLG. The hiring of Steadham brings yet more change for WPLG’s weather team, which has been in a relative flux since new Post-Newsweek boss Emily Barr decided to step in and make changes in April of this year.

Morning Anchor Shannon Moss was fired abruptly from her job at WMTW (Portland, ME).
What reason do the station give her for her firing?
"I was told I was a fierce journalist with a great work ethic, but that viewers weren't responding to me," said Moss.
Of course, Moss should have seen the handwriting on the wall when her contract on expired Monday, and no one talked to her about renewing it. She was given no prior notice of her dismissal.
Moss claims that the ratings showed recently that the newscast she co-anchored had made gains. She had been at the station for 6 years.
It took the station 6 years to figure out that the viewers are not responding to Moss?!
Moss is not burning any bridges. She says she wishes the station well and knows that TV news is "a fickle business," said Moss.
Needless to say, WMTW's GM David Abel, would not elaborate on Moss' departure Wednesday, citing a company policy of not commenting on personnel matters.
Maybe the viewers are not responding to the way Abel is running the station.
Just saying....
KYW's morning anchor team have a bit part in the Brad Pitt movie "World War Z."
Even through the team of Erika von Tiehl (pictured), Ukee Washington and Katie Fehlinger appear to be reporting on the Zombies, the footage used real.
Von Tiehl, Washington and Fehlinger can be seen reporting on the zombie apocalypse from a TV in Pitt's home. But the scene isn't scripted. "World War Z" producers asked KYW for an archived clip (presumably of some nasty Philly weather) and used that instead.
Becuase when it comes to local news hyping the weather, it's really no different than how they would (will) report the zombie apocalypse.
