Will you Stalk Us?!

facebook-linkedin-job-find_0.jpg

The best way to know when FTVLive post new updates, which can happen at anytime of the day or night is to stalk us.

Not by looking in the windows of the World Headquarters, although we have to warn you, if you do, we often update FTVLive in the nude (try getting that thought out of your head for the rest of the day).

No, it would be easier to stalk us on either Facebook or Twitter.

We update those feeds as we update the stories on FTVLive.

So go ahead and like, follow, stalk or whatever you want to call it. Just know that if you peak in our windows, we warned you.

"We appreciate everything Susannah has contributed to our network over the past year and wish her the best in her future endeavors."

The Deuce is Done at WPIX

Wpix-Logo1.jpg

It's a changing of the guard at WPIX in New York.

As FTVLive told you, the struggling Tribune station recently hired Mark Effron as their new News Director.

And with a new ND, changes can be expected.

Longtime Assistant News Director John Houseman is leaving the station at the end of Today.

Houseman spent more than 20 years at WPIX and he was the interim News Director for months after Bill Carey left the station.

It was and he's out, but word is he's leaving on good terms.

Effron is expect to hire "his own person" in the next few weeks.

Troubled Weather Anchor Returns Tonight, Becuase it's Sweeps

Troubled Weather Anchor Returns Tonight, Becuase it's Sweeps

Call us cynical, but this shit happens every sweeps period in TV news.

As FTVLive has pointed out countless times, when it's ratings times, stations will stoop as low as they need to in an effort to get viewers.

Most often the only time you will hear about an Anchor's cancer battle, alcoholism, drug addiction or battle with depression is during a sweeps month.

Because let's be honest, no job is more important than those that deliver the news, so when ratings hit, it should be all about them. Excuse me....I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

So for the latest, it's all about us, let's head out to KOLD in Tucson.

We Regret the Error

We Regret the Error

TV stations across the country had to take to the air and make a long of corrections last month.

April will go down as not the strongest month in history for broadcast journalism.

For sure heroes like Pete Williams at NBC rose up to deliver quality quick news during the Boston bombing investigation but most coverage from the marathon attack was a shit show (we're looking at you CNN).

All those blunders took the focus away from everyday TV news mistakes like misidentifying what kind of porn a teacher is accused of watching or several times identifying innocent people as criminals.

Check out some of the mistakes and the corrections made in local news after the jump.

News Director Will Take Class After Arrest

News Director Will Take Class After Arrest

WWAY (Wilminghton)  News Director Scott Pickey said Thursday he agreed to take a defensive driving class before his next court hearing in July in an attempt to end the saga of his brief arrest during the Martin Luther King Parade.

Pickey is accused of driving onto the parade route in violation of a police officer's order to stay put. He is charged with failure to obey a traffic officer, and careless and reckless driving.

On Jan. 21, Pickey tried to leave the television station parking lot along the parade route at 615 N. Front St., when he was stopped by an officer who told him he couldn't leave, Wilmington Police Department spokeswoman Lucy Crockett said.

Crockett said Pickey ignored the officer and drove out of the parking lot onto the parade route.

KC Reporter Revels Secrets on How to be a Reporter

KC Reporter Revels Secrets on How to be a Reporter

There are sooooo many comments we could make about WDAF Reporter Matt Stewart's blog post on his secret to become a TV Reporter.

But, we'll just let you read it and see what you think.

Stewart writes, I’ll admit it.  I have a pretty cool job.  I get to be on TV, like, every single day.  I get to tell cool stories, meet famous people and tell jokes that make a whole city laugh.  When I walk around town, chances are a couple people I’ve never met before will recognize me.  It’s fun.  Every day is different.  I don’t sit behind a desk in an office.  My desk is the live van, my office the entire viewing area.  I get to be a part of big events: a front row seat at the President’s visit; on the front lines after a tornado hits; front and center at every crime scene and ribbon cutting.  How cool is that?

Everywhere I go, people say, “Matt, I want to be a reporter like you.  How do I do it?”

Up until now, I’ve kept my recipe for journalistic success a closely guarded secret lest some young up-and-comer try to use my formula to steal my job.  But after much pressure from our adoring Fox 4 fans, I have decided to help all of you who hope to one day rule the airwaves.  Heretofore is what you MUST do as part of your training to become a successful television reporter.

The "secrets" after the hop.

LA Station's Promo Falls Flat

LA Station's Promo Falls Flat

Variety's Brian Lowry writes that sweeps periods aren’t what they used to be, back in the old days when networks loaded up May with big miniseries, and stations resorted to the trashiest of come-ons seeking to entice viewers to watch.

Still, the remnants of the system haven’t been eradicated entirely, as demonstrated by the sleazy-as-dad-used-to-make-’em radio promo KCBS in Los Angeles ran on Tuesday, promoting its 11 o’clock news.

After plugging its high-rated Tuesday primetime lineup, the station mentioned an unidentified “epidemic” that is afflicting newborns. “How to avoid the new epidemic impacting babies!” the announcer droned, offering no clue as to what that might be.

Dr. Drew is Sick of Killing People

It looks like 5 deaths was enough for Dr. Drew.

The TV Doc says he is pulling the plug on his show Celebrity Rehab.

The show which was a better predictor of who to take next in your celebrity death pool than it was a rehabbing people is canceled.

“I don’t have any plans to do it anymore,” Dr. Drew said “I am tired of taking all the heat, it is just ridiculous.”

5 of Drew's "patients" that were featured on the show are now dead.
