Bumped Up in Chicago

It only took 18 years, but a guy that started out as an intern at WGN in Chicago has finally made it onto the payroll full time.

Robert Feder reports that 18 years ago Mike Lowe was working as an intern in the sports department at WGN.

Today he’s a full-time general assignment reporter. Jennifer Lyons, news director of “Chicago’s Very Own,” confirmed Lowe’s new deal with the station after 15 months as a per diem reporter.

Lowe previously was a reporter for WITI, the Fox affiliate in Milwaukee.

So this should be a lesson to you interns out there. If you stick with it and work hard and make the best coffee you can. In 18 short years, you to could be moved up to Reporter at the station.

Now, go empty the trash and make some beat calls.
