The mystery surrounding the death of former WGCL chief Photographer Jon Smith continues.

Smith was supposed to start a new job this week at WCIV in Charleston. But, he was found shot on a trail by the Chattahoochee River and was later pronounced dead.

Sources told FTVLive and others that Smith's death was a suicide, but now family members say that the death is still be investigated and could possibly be murder.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office says the case is still under investigation.

Either way, the sad news is that Smith is gone and leaves behind a wife and two kids. a GoFundMe page has raised over $11 grand for the family.
