Reporter Fired after Being Arrested for Sex Crime

A Reporter at KTAL in Shreveport has been arrested after failing to register as a sex offender.

Louisiana State Police arrested 32 year old Michael Jessie Santos, who goes by the name Michael Troy on air after they say he failed to register as a sex offender in the state. 

Santos/Troy and has been working as a Producer/Reporter at KTAL until his arrest. KTAL General Manager Mark McKay would not comment on his staffer's arrest or situation, but did confirm that Santos/Troy is no longer with the station, "He doesn’t work at the station.  It is our policy not to discuss personnel matters."

Santos was convicted in Florida for lewd or lascivious behavior with a 14 year old girl. 

Louisiana State Police sent this statement to KEEL regarding the arrest of Santos:
In February 2016, Louisiana State Police (LSP), Special Victims Unit (SVU), initiated an investigation of an individual named Michael J. Santos AKA Michael Troy, W/M, DOB: 9/28/1983, who failed to Register as a Sex Offender. Michael J. Santos AKA Michael Troy was convicted and adjudicated of a crime which in Louisiana is equivalent to Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile (14 yo ) which would require him to register as a sex offender. LSP SVU Detectives obtained an arrest warrant and on February 18, 2016 executed the arrest warrant. Michael J. Santos AKA Michael Troy was charged with L.R.S 15:542 Registration of Sex Offenders and L.R.S 15:542.1.3 Procedures for offenders convicted or adjudicated under the laws of another state.
That sex crime involving the teenage girl happened when Santos was living in the Hollywood, Florida area.
