Former Tampa Anchor Returns to TV

Former WTVT (Tampa) Anchor Denise White is getting back into TV.

White and Hetal Gandhi have been hired by WUSF Public Media to launch a television program University Beat about the University of South Florida.

White spent 25 years at WTVT before leaving the station.

"These are two experienced and highly talented journalists, and we're so proud they are helping launch this new venture for USF," WUSF Public Media general manager JoAnn Urofsky said in a statement. "This show will help shine a spotlight on the amazing work at USF that benefits all of us here in Tampa Bay and beyond."

University Beat will air at 6:30 p.m. Sundays on WUSF-Ch. 16. The 30-minute show will highlight developments at USF, student academic programs, faculty research programs, economic development initiatives and other topics.
