Launching Morning Newscast in Mississippi

WXXV in Gulfport, Miss.will be launching a new morning newscast starting next week.

The station's morning newscast will air on two different networks. The show's first hour will air from 6 to 7 a.m. on WXXV NBC and the second hour will run from 7 to 8 a.m. on Fox.

"When we initially launched back in 2013, we had a goal to have a morning show and weekend programming," news director Joe Sullivan said. "We're really happy to provide local consumers with the perfect way to start their day."

Sullivan said the show will feature hosts Katarina Luketich and Bryan Kennedy updating viewers on local and national news stories.

"The energy with the team is great," Sullivan said. "They've been preparing for this for the past month."

"It'll also give our viewers who usually watch our night newscasts an opportunity to tune in and catch us in the mornings," he said. "The morning crew is chomping at the bit to go live Sept. 21."

Sullivan said WXXV is also working to launch a Sunday-night show beginning Sept. 27.

"Almost two years to the day of our launch we are unveiling these amazing new shows," he said. "The station couldn't be more excited."
