Coming out Swinging at Rev. Al Sharpton

Larry Wilmore's new Comedy Central show "The Nightly Report" hit the air last night as a replacement for the Colbert Report.

Wilmore, started off with,  "A brother finally gets a show on late night TV, but, of course, he has to work on Martin Luther King Day."

He also went at MSNBC's Al Sharpton: "Al, slow down man. You don't have to respond to every black emergency. You're not black Batman."

And he took a swing at the Oscars: "A very powerful motion picture was snubbed. This film's message is as poignant today as it was when I was a kid," he said, as he prepared to dress down the Academy Awards and its snub of black talent in this year's nomination.....  How did the "Lego Movie" movie not get nominated for best picture?"

Wilmore is is trying to carve is own nitch and not be another Colbert. He appears to be off to a very good start.

Although, Al Sharpton might disagree.
