OK, let's start up the rumor mill and figure out what is happening with Hoda and Kathie Lee on the Today Show.

The pair has been basically on hiatus for the last two weeks for the studio 1A refurbishment.

Also, word is that Hoda's contract is about to come up and she might be "looking for something more".

No one at NBC has let on that there is anything planned with the two, but an interesting story was just posted on the Today Show website.

The headline of the story:

"Kathie Lee: 'I have no idea how long I'll stay with Hoda'"

The story deals with the future for the Anchors of Today's 4th hour and where they think they will be in 5 years?

Groaning at having to think that far ahead, Hoda said she'd like to be "alive," for starters. "I’m sure I’m going to be on some weird diet, of course," she told TODAY.com with a laugh. "I’m sure so many of the things I said I was going to do last year I’ll still be talking about doing five years from now."

But on a more thoughtful note, Hoda said she's not too worried about what lies ahead, since so far, she's enjoyed every chapter, thanks to the people in her life.

"I hope that wherever it is, I’m joyful," she said. "I feel like I’ve always had a pretty good life because I seem to be able to find really great people. Because that’s what it’s about — a building’s a building, a job’s a job, but if you can surround yourself with people who make you feel great or feel better, you’ve got a great life."

One of those people, of course, is the lady she sits next to every morning. "I just hope I’m happy and I have a feeling that Kathie Lee and I will still be close," Hoda predicted.

KLG confirmed the two ladies will be friends for life, whether or not they're still messing around on TODAY in the mornings.

"I have no idea how long I’ll stay with Hoda," she said. "Working together is very different than being friends together. Regis and I are still dear, dear friends. I know that Hoda and I will [remain dear friends], whether our show stops or not."

Huh?! What?! The show might be stopping?!

No one has said anything, but this story posted on NBC's website sure makes you want to read between the lines.

Let the rumor mill start cranking.
