Morgan finds himself adored by millions of fans of his CNN show and simultaneously loathed by millions of others for his outspoken views on gun control.
The presenter’s attack on the US second amendment – the right to bear arms – after the Sandy Hook primary school massacre has even led to him getting death threats.
“It’s been pretty threatening and fairly menacing at times – you just have to read my Twitter to see I’ve had death threats every day.
“There are so many Americans who feel the same as me, who want some level of gun control introduced, but have been reluctant to put their heads above the parapet because of the threats.
"My mother, for example, isn’t very keen on me putting my head above the parapet.”
Guns are an integral part of American culture, but as Piers points out, the levels of violence in the country have now spiraled out of control.
