When the power went out during the Super Bowl, viewers picked up their phones and started to tweet.

Twitter says that during the Bowl Blackout, people were sending power outage tweets at the rate of almost a quarter a million per minute (231,000 per minute to be exact).

If you were on Twitter at the time, you saw how close the power outage at the Super Bowl, almost caused the same thing at Twitter.

The site slowed to a crawl and page loads started taking longer and longer.

But Twitter was able to stay up, something the folks at the Super Dome wished they could do.
