Tegna's High Level Meeting

Tegna called a top level meeting for the company’s GMs and News Directors on Wednesday afternoon.

When the dust settled from the meeting, the General Managers were in charge of their stations yet again.

You may remember when Mike Steib was the CEO and Adrianne Roark was running the news. The pair basically stripped GM’s of full control of their stations, and having them focused on sales.

Now, Tegna is going back to the future, which the GMs running the stations and the News Directors reporting directly to the GMs once again.

A source tells FTVLive that the other big news to coming out of the meeting is that Michael Valentine and Julie Wolfe are out as Regional VP’s of Content.

“Valentine is no surprise. Pretty much every one at the station level hates the guy,” said a Tegna insider.

That leaves Tegna with just 3 VPs of Content. FTVLive predicted that you would see a cut in the News VP ranks when Patrick Paolini took over as the new CEO of Tegna.

As for these moves, “It also shows that Patrick Paolini is listening to the stations,” said a source.
