The Buffalo News TV Critic, Alan Pergament says that while watching Scripps-owned WKBW, he has figured out that the station pre-records its newscasts.

Of course, Scripps is doing the same thing at many stations, but Pergament says, “…you would hope for the sake of transparency that it would carry a graphic before the start of each newscast indicating that is the case.”

Of course, Scripps is more than happy to have viewers believe that the news they are watching is live, despite the fact that it is not.

The critic points out that there are times when reporter’s stories occasionally disappear into a commercial break without any warning. He also writes that “Many stories air consecutively with a visual transition from one story into another in what in the trade are referred to as "wipes."“

The longtime TV Critic ends the story with advice to viewers. “Consider yourself warned about Channel 7’s new way of doing things,” he writes.

Let’e be honest, any viewer left watching a Scripps produced newscast, is likely not that bright anyway.
