Breaking News! LA News Chopper Crashes

The hardest story for a newsroom to cover, is a story that involves the deaths of your co-workers.

Just hours ago, KNBC (LA) Anchor Colleen Williams reported to viewers that the helicopter that crashed in Chatsworth, California, belonged to KNBC.

As the chopper went down, after impact, the helicopter burst into flames in a parking lot. The airborne news crew was covering a bus crash at the time.

Three people were killed.

KNBC Reporter Eliana Moreno was one of the three killed. Moreno was known as a top-notch Reporter.

Chopper pilot George Marciniw also lot his life. He was a highly-experienced pilot, with over 30 tears in the air.

The third person who was killed was a not yet identified pedestrian on the ground at the time of the crash. Two others were injured and taken to the hospital.

The KNBC anchors became visibly emotional on-air as they broke the news to viewers, reporting that the station had "lost contact with our people" before final confirmation was received.

Williams reported the very tough news.
