Trump Goes After Another Female Journalist, Wants FCC to "Punish" Her

The relentless attacks on the press never seem to stop—and as history has repeatedly shown, when a woman is delivering the news he doesn't like, Trump comes out firing with both barrels.
This time, the target is NBC News’ Kristen Welker.
During a live hit on Washington NBC affiliate WRC-TV ahead of Sunday’s Meet the Press, Welker discussed the upcoming midterm elections and Trump’s political capital. She noted that while the former president looms large over the races, his primary endorsement record has seen "some mixed results"—an entirely factual observation given recent primary upsets.
That was all it took to light the fuse.
Trump immediately ran to Truth Social to unleash on Welker, calling her the "unpopular ‘hostess’ of the once great Meet the Press" and accusing her of "purposeful inaccuracy."
Then came the demand that would be unbelievable in any other political era—except this is Trump, making it entirely predictable.
Trump declared that Welker "will be reported to the FCC for rebuke or punishment," openly calling on FCC Chairman Brendan Carr to step in.
"The Press is a Disgrace to our Nation, and I hope that Chairman Brendan Carr, and the fine people of his Commission, will take this Threat to our Country very seriously." Trump said on Truth Social
The Federal Communications Commission is supposed to be an independent regulatory agency tasked with managing public broadcast spectrum—it does not possess the legal authority to police editorial judgment, censor political commentary, or punish journalists whose coverage irks a politician.
Yet Trump continues to treat the regulatory body like his personal retaliation squad to settle scores with television networks and reporters.
NBC News stood firmly behind the Meet the Press moderator, saying in a statement:
"Kristen is one of the best in the business and we stand by her."
The clash is just the latest in Trump's ongoing pattern of singling out female correspondents and anchors with personal, demeaning barbs whenever they dare to fact-check him or ask tough questions. For anyone keeping score in broadcast news, it's just another day in the crosshairs.
