So Very Cringe

Watching this video that was posted by Gray’s WBRC (Birmingham) is so cringe.

The very DIGNITY of the veteran weatherman Mickey Ferguson is in question.

WBRC Meteorologist Carlyn McCreary, dressed as a cheerleader, is jumping around Ferguson, acting like a child while he’s trying to work.

Arms up, twirling, the whole production.

She’s lip-syncing Beyoncé’s voice, all while acting a fool.

What makes this so much worse is that this wasn’t posted on an intern’s personal account, or even on McCreary’s. This was WBRC posting it to the station’s account.

Where is WBRC management on this? Where is the leadership at Gray?

Is the station trying to attract viewers with a dancing weather girl? Have we made any progress at all, or did we just spend the past twenty years yelling “#NotAweatherGirl” so we could turn around and put this on the official page?

This isn’t cute. This isn’t “relatable content.” This is a newsroom that decided the weather desk is now a weekly lip-sync battle and the veteran in the suit is just the guy who has to sit there and become part of the skit.
