Many viewers in Corpus Christi were not happy when KRIS laid off Michelle and Bryan Hofmann, the married couple who hosted the Scripps station’s morning newscast.

Yep, as part of the Scripps cuts, they sacked a husband and wife.

The morning show now is aired with no anchor team and the local paper described the new newscast like this: the banter is gone, transitions are abrupt, and large stretches of the broadcast now feel patched together.

The KRIS morning newscast is full of filler. There are some prepackaged reports from the station’s MMJs, and then the newscast moves to NBC News packages and syndicated segments such as Mr. Food Test Kitchen.

One viewer said that the local newscast doesn’t seem like it is local at all.
