Document Details Cuts to Happen at Scripps Motown Station

On the heels of FTVLive’s Patron Only story about cuts going down at WXYZ, the Scripps station in Detroit, a document details what jobs the station is looking to cut.

The Patron story also points out why station staff is pissed that Scripps spent big bucks on a fishing trip to Alaska for advertisers and Scripps suits.

Deadline Detroit obtained the document that was titled, "WXYZ Detroit Staff Reduction Model”,

The WZYZ document recommends these reductions:

►Evening Anchors: 5 to 4

►Multi-Media Journalists: 18 to 17

►Associate Producers: 2 to 1

►Producers: 12 to 7

►Photographers: 12 to 10.

"This documents achieves the Detroit reductions with all non-union content creators," the memo said. "The model complies with the recommended guidelines, achieves headcount targets while putting content and delivery to audience in the forefront."

I have said this many times, but I think it needs to be said, yet again. No company has ever cut its way to prosperity.
