Signed Off in DC
/Joseph Olmo is an anchor and reporter at WRC, the NBC owned-and-operated station in Washington, D.C.
During a Sunday night newscast, Olmo used the final block of the broadcast to let viewers know he was wrapping up his run at the O&O.
“Well, before we go tonight, I’ve got just one more story for you,” Olmo said. “After almost 10 years in broadcasting, tomorrow night I will hit the streets of the DMV one final time as a local news reporter.”
Olmo, an Annapolis native who has spent roughly seven years covering the D.C. market between NBC4 and Telemundo 44, told viewers he is stepping away from local news to pursue other ventures.
“In life, you are often encouraged to dream big. But what happens when you have several dreams? I firmly believe our time here is way too short to get to the end and wonder, ‘What if I had tried that?’”
As for what's next? Olmo posted on social media that he plans to stay in the D.C. area, teasing that his next move won't come as much of a surprise to those who know him.
