You Can Go Home Again
/After climbing to one of the nation’s premier media markets, Mauricio Casillas is heading home.
The El Paso native and former ABC-7 anchor spent the last four years at NBC4 (WRC-TV), an NBC network Owned-and-Operated station in Washington, D.C. In the nation's capital, Casillas reported and anchored major breaking news, politics, and public safety stories for NBC4, while also delivering Spanish-language coverage for Telemundo Washington.
Despite the high-profile assignment at a network flagship, Casillas has decided to bring his talents back to the Borderland. He officially returns to KVIA-TV to co-anchor ABC-7’s weekday 5, 6, and 10 p.m. newscasts alongside Marcel Clarke.
For Casillas, trading a top-tier market for El Paso was an easy choice.
“El Paso is home. There is no place like it anywhere else,” Casillas said. “The opportunity to come back to my community and tell stories was one I couldn’t pass up.”
