The Left Over Remains at a Scripps Station
/FTVLive was the FIRST to tell you about the latest cuts at Scripps that were going to happen.
One of the Scripps stations that was gutted was WMAR in Baltimore.
Scripps has gotten rid of the anchors and is doing a terribly produced anchorless newscast.
The morning newscast is basically just pre-recorded video thrown against a wall and dubbed as a newscast.
The only live humans left on the newscast are Traffic Anchor Kristy Breslin and Meteorologist Abigail Degler.
Which makes for a fairly lame tease on social media.
Scripps tries to pass this format as the “future of news”, but in reality it is just putting something on the air as cheaply as possible.
You only need to look at the viewers’ comments on Breslin’s post to see that Scripps’ grand plan is going over like a lead balloon.
Sadly, I don’t believe there is a single person in the Scripps corporate offices that gives a crap what viewers think. This has nothing to do with journalism, and everything to do with cost-cutting.
I will predict that Scripps will cut everything down to the bare bone and then sell the company off within a year.
Just saying…
