Fort Wayne Consolidation

When it comes to a look at the future of TV news, you can look to the Ft. Wayne TV market.

Gray Media now controls the ABC, NBC, and Fox affiliation in the market. Think about that: one company controls all the network affiliates, except for CBS. The CBS station is WANE and is owned by Nexstar.

Sources at the Gray run stations say staffers are now stuck doing more with less, adding 3 more hours of daily news.

“Morale is at a low, and management has unreasonable expectations, according to staffers”, said one insider to FTVLive, adding, “Of course, on-air talent and Corporate is billing this as news expansion that offers viewers more choices”.

Gray’s WPTA just merged news operations with WFFT, and the consolidation is killing the market.
