Viewers tuning into Tegna’s WGRZ in Buffalo on Monday, might finally see a familiar face back in her usual chair.

Main co-anchor Maryalice Demler is reportedly scheduled to return to the desk this coming Monday following a nearly three-month absence.

Demler’s longtime co-anchor, Scott Levin, let the cat out of the bag at the top of the station’s 11 p.m. newscast Wednesday night. For weeks, Levin had been giving viewers the standard, generic line that Demler was simply "off tonight." On Wednesday, he updated the script, telling the audience, "…but she tells me she plans to be back Monday."

Demler, who is approaching a rare 33-year milestone at the Tegna-owned NBC affiliate, has been away dealing with what insiders describe as a private family matter. Sources say what she’s been handling off-camera during the leave is deeply admirable, though management has stayed characteristically tight-lipped about the situation.

If she does indeed return on Monday, it will reunite Demler and Levin—currently the longest-tenured anchor duo in the Western New York market.

Whether Demler will address her extended time off on-air remains to be seen, but for now, the station schedule has her back in the lineup.
